We provide Polar Operations - combined courses. This is the combined course of the two Polar courses (Basic and Advanced) required for deck officers operating in polar waters as defined in the Polar Code. The content of the courses is in accordance with STCW Section V/4, table A-V/4-1.
Content:
A trainee successfully completing the Basic course will gain the ability to contribute to safe operation of vessels operating in polar waters, apply safe working practices, respond to emergencies, ensure compliance with pollution prevention requirements and prevent environmental hazards; all in accordance with legislative requirements.
A trainee successfully completing the Advanced course will gain the ability to operate any ship in polar waters; conduct a voyage, understand equipment limitations, manage the safe operation of vessels and maintain safety of ship’s crew and passengers. The course lasts for 64 hours; 4 days at centre and 32 hours e-learning.
Target audience:
Target participants are masters, chief-mates and officers in charge of navigation watch on ships operating in polar waters. Maximum number of participants are 6.
