We provide course about MoP® Foundation and Practitioner. The MoP® (Management of Portfolios) guidance provides senior executives and practitioners responsible for planning and implementing change, with a set of principles, techniques and practices to introduce or re-energize portfolio management.

Course description:
The purpose of the Practitioner qualification is to confirm whether the candidate has achieved sufficient understanding of how to apply and tailor the MoP guidance and to analyze portfolio data, documentation and roles in relation to a scenario situation.

A successful Practitioner candidate should, with suitable support, be able to advise on the implementation of appropriate practices and techniques, and apply the method to a live portfolio, but may not be sufficiently skilled to do this appropriately for all situations. Their individual expertise, the complexity of the portfolio, and the support provided will also influence the impact the Practitioner can achieve.

Course objectives:
Candidates should be able to apply and understand how to tailor MoP effectively. Specifically candidates should be able to demonstrate their ability to:
• Define the business case to get senior management approval for portfolio management
• Plan the implementation of portfolio management
• Select and adapt MoP principles, practices and techniques to suit different organizationalenvironments
• Evaluate examples of MoP information (including documents and role descriptions) analyse the solutions adopted in relation to a given scenario.

Course outline:
Module 1 - The Portfolio Management Model:
• Cost effectiveness, Objectives and Benefits

Module 2 - Implement:
• Sustain and Measure, Seven steps to implementation, Key factors in sustaining progress, Maturity assessments, Performance metrics.

Module 3 - Strategic and organizational context:
• Business as Usual (BAU), Strategic Planning, Budgeting and resource allocation, Programme and Project management, Performance Management, Corporate Governance.

Module 4 - Portfolio management Principles:
• Senior Management Commitment, Governance Alignment, Strategy Alignment, Portfolio Office, Energized change culture.

Module 5 - The Portfolio definition practices:
• Understand, Categorize, Prioritize, Balance, Plan) The Portfolio delivery practice
(Management Control, Benefits Management, Financial Management, Risk Management, Stakeholder Management, Organizational Governance, Resource Management.

Module 6 - Roles and documentation:
• Portfolio Group and Investment committee, Portfolio Progress group and, Change Delivery committee, Business Change Director and Portfolio Director, Portfolio Manager, Portfolio Benefits Manager, Portfolio Management Framework, Portfolio Strategy,Portfolio Delivery Plan, Portfolio Benefits, Management Framework, Portfolio Benefits Realization Plan, Portfolio Financial Plan , Portfolio Resource Schedule, Portfolio stakeholder engagement and communication plan, Portfolio dashboard.

Module 7 - Introduction to Portfolio Management:
• Introduction to Portfolio Management, Course objectives, MOP Qualification, Target Audience, Exam Overview, The Practitioner exam, The MOP Syllabus.

Module 8 - Practical Exercises:
• Sources of organizational Energy, Organizational energy states, Activity sequencing, Categorization/segmentation, Financial Appraisal, Multi criteria analysis, Portfolio Definition Cycle, Risk Management, MOP roles, MOP documents.

Module 9 - Group discussion:
• Barriers to implementation, 3 Implementation approaches, Governance and alignment, Portfolio definition, Portfolio delivery, Implement, sustain and measure.

Module 10 - Exam preperation

Target audience:
This qualification is aimed at those involved in a range of formal and informal portfolio management roles encompassing investment decision making, project and programme delivery, and benefits realization. It is relevant to all those involved in the selection and delivery of business change initiatives including:
• Members of Management Boards and Directors of Change
• Senior Responsible Owners (SROs)
• Portfolio, programme
• Project, business change and benefits managers
• Business case writers and project

Prerequisites:
• There are no formal prerequisites, but a PRINCE2 Foundation certificate is recommended

• English course material, norwegian or english speaking trainers

Course material:
All course material will be delivered digital and consist of:
• Course material with slide sett
• Official MoP manual
• PodCast which sums up the highlights per day

Certification:
About the Foundation exam:
• Multiple choice examination questions
• 50 questions per paper
• 25 marks required to pass (out of 50 available) - 50%
• 40 minutes’ duration
• Extra time (15 min) for non-natives english speakers
• Closed book

About the Practitioner exam:
• Objective testing format
• Four questions per paper with 20 marks available per question - all question items will be worth one mark, making the total number of marks available per paper 80.
• Open book exam. Candidates may use the official printed hard copy of the Management of Portfolios guide. The manual may be annotated and tabulated but no sticky notes and loose leaf papers containing additional notes will be allowed.
• 40 marks required (out of 80 available) to pass - 50%
• 180 minutes' duration
• Extra time (38 min) for non-natives English speakers
