We provide IADC WellSharp Driller course. The IADC WellSharp Driller Level course is designed to equip drilling personnel with the essential skills and knowledge needed to maintain well control on the rig.
Course content:
Defined by IADC standards, this course provides an in-depth understanding of well control fundamentals, barriers, kick prevention, and methods for managing well control incidents. Through classroom instruction and practical simulator exercises, participants gain a strong foundation in recognising and responding to well control situations, improving safety and operational efficiency.
Key benefits include:
• Comprehensive understanding of well control principles and procedures
• Practical application of kick detection, shut-in procedures, and kill methods
• Confidence in using industry-standard well control equipment
Course objectives:
The course covers the following key areas:
1) Introduction to well control:
• Overview of well control principles and the importance of maintaining well stability
2) Shut-in procedures and kill sheets:
• Detailed instructions for executing shut-in procedures safely and using kill sheets for accurate pressure management
3) Managed pressure drilling (MPD):
• An overview of MPD operations and its role in maintaining well stability under challenging conditions
4) Barriers and risk management:
• Understanding physical and procedural barriers and techniques for effective risk management
5) Well control methods:
• Techniques for managing well control through various kill methods used in the industry
6) Kick causes and warning signs:
• Identifying the causes of kicks, early warning indicators, and necessary pre-emptive measures
7) BOP and associated equipment:
• Introduction to blowout preventers (BOPs) and other essential well control equipment
Assessment:
Participants must pass a written and practical assessment with a minimum score of 75% to obtain well control certification. Practical assessment will be completed during week on simulators, theory exam will be completed on last day our course through a online IADC testing database.
Target audience:
This course is targeted at personnel going to rigs that aren’t directly in charge of killing a well that has taken an influx. Derrick hands, Assistant Drillers, Drillers), Subsea Supervisors, and any 3rd party personnel that have downhole tools that may impact Well Control operations.
Prerequisites:
Participants should have:
• A basic understanding of drilling operations and well control principles
• Relevant experience in a drilling environment
• We recommend that all participants should first obtain IADC WellSharp Introductory Level certification before attending
Certification:
Upon successful completion, participants will receive the IADC WellSharp Driller Level Well Control certificate, valid for two years and recognized globally in the oil and gas industry.
