A cyber-attack often targets an organization’s users first. Make sure they are prepared. This one-day training ensures that each employee fully understands the nature and importance of information security and is able to identify common threats.

Content:
Being protected against accidental or deliberate loss of information from an organization or its customers is a critical factor for any company's continuing success and survival.
When a company becomes the target of a cyber-attack, the main penetration technique first targets the organization's users. Due to insufficient understanding by the employees of security risks arising from (not only) internet browsing, this technique is particularly popular with the attackers, having positive results for them and a very negative impact for the targeted company.
This course addresses IMO Resolution MSC.428 (98), and complies with TMSA 3 and OVMSA 2 element 7.3.3 and 13 KPI/best practice, thereby promoting responsible behaviour by shore-based and vessel personnel with regards to:
• Locking of unattended work stations
• Safeguarding of passwords
• No use of unauthorised software
• Responsible use of social media
• Control/prevention of misuse of portable storage and memory sticks

The course focuses on:
• Relevance of cyber security to everyone working in the maritime sector
• Regulations and standards
• Types of attackers and threats (i.e. malware, viruses and spyware, use of removable media (USBs), risks of social networking)
• Motives of attackers and threats
• Incidents already reported - Handling cyber-attacks
• Need for a protective holistic approach
• Fundamentals of cyber risk assessment
• Fundamentals of detection & handling of cyber-attacks
• Experience input from customer projects
